Canberrans now have a new way to get around our city with two organisations chosen to introduce the e-scooter shared scheme.
Beam Mobility and Neuron Mobility have been selected to operate the scheme in the ACT following an expression of interest process.
Neuron and Beam are now operating in Canberra.
There will be up to 1,500 devices under the scheme (a maximum of 750 for each provider). The exact number will be a business decision for the successful operators.
The e-scooter scheme provides Canberrans with a convenient and fast option for short trips on their own or combined with public transport. E-scooters provide a healthy and affordable choice, and reduce the problems associated with car travel. The scheme will also offer economic development opportunities including local employment and visitor services.
The e-scooters have been allowed following changes to the road rules in December 2019 and the launch of Dockless Shared Micromobility Policy and Guidelines (PDF 188KB). Please email TCCS.PolicyLegislation@act.gov.au for a copy of the policy.
