There is some rain in the forecast this week which could impact some of our planned works and result in temporary closures within ACT parks and reserves.
Our planned works are outlined below. They are subject to weather and any required operational changes.

Gundaroo Drive duplication: Work is continuing with crews undertaking bridge works, landscaping works and mature tree planting. Construction is also underway on the path under the bridge and towards Baldwin Drive. The speed limit remains at 60 km/h between Chuculba Crescent and Baldwin Drive to protect workers during the remaining works.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Central Canberra region.
Beltana Road upgrade, Pialligo: Stormwater and road rehabilitation works are continuing. Beltana Road has reverted to a one-way arrangement while construction is completed.
Work is progressing on the cycleway with the westbound lane of Ipima Street closed for approximately 3 weeks. This is for kerb modifications and the installation of a raised crossing.
Work is recommencing between Ipima Street and Limestone Avenue and between Limestone Avenue and Majura Avenue. To support these works, entry to the southern car park at Wakefield oval is closed until 15 January 2025. Access to the car park will be through the other 2 entry points to the north along Angas Street.
Goliath Court stormwater improvements: Underground surveys using potholing are expected to commence this week around O’Connor shops at the Sargood Street/Macpherson Street intersection and the Bluebell Street/Macpherson Street intersection. These temporary works are not expected to disrupt motorists or pedestrians. Further construction is due to commence at O’Connor shops in the coming weeks.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Gungahlin region.
Yerrabi Pond upgrades: Carpark improvement works are commencing at Phyllis Ashton Circuit, Nellie Hamilton Avenue and Strayleaf Crescent. Several existing carparks near the commercial area of Phyllis Ashton Circuit will be unavailable throughout the construction period. There will be intermittent disruptions for short periods of time along areas of Phyllis Ashton Circuit. Traffic controllers will be operating to help divert the community around these works. During this time, parking will not be available adjacent this area (units 64-74B). See Yerrabi Pond upgrades for more information.
Franklin dog park: The dog park is expected to open soon. Some small areas of grass within the dog park have been cordoned off for additional maintenance and grass establishment. The verge grass areas outside the park remain closed to allow the grass to grow.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Tuggeranong region.
Lanyon Marketplace improvements: Construction has commenced on public space improvements at Lanyon Marketplace and is expected to take approximately 4 months to finish, weather permitting. Works will be carried out between 7 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday. If required, work may be undertaken on weekends between the same hours. The Balcombe Street and Sidney Nolan Street intersection is closed and will remain closed to traffic during the construction period. Signage will be installed to safely detour the community around the works.
Monaro Highway upgrade: Construction of the Lanyon Drive flyover is underway. Pavement widening is continuing in the median adjacent to the northbound and southbound carriageway.
Tharwa Drive improvements: The road works are complete and the new roundabout is open to traffic. Landscape and defect rectification works will be carried out in early 2025.
ACT parks and reserves: Temporary closures remain in place for trails to the east of Murrays Corner and Bullen Range Road in the Bullen Range Nature Reserve and in sections of Cotter Pines Mountain Bike Trails. Access to Namarag Reserve is via Thancoupie Crescent during the Molonglo River Bridge construction works. Murrays Corner is closed for swimming.

Swimming areas: Water quality testing has resumed. Murrays Corner is closed for swimming due to a bacterial alert.
Trees: Crews are watering trees and removing fallen branches across Canberra. They are also delivering water to volunteer groups in Curtin, Hughes and Weston.
Weeds: Crews are spraying weeds at underpasses in Garran, Hughes, O’Malley and Stirling.
Molonglo River Bridge: Works are continuing on both sides of the river. Temporary traffic lights and stop and go arrangements remain in place to facilitate these works.
Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year. We manage 125 barbecues across Canberra.
Graffiti is removed within 5 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. There are over 160 urban lakes and ponds around Canberra. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected. We manage over 500 playgrounds across Canberra.
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) are inspected every fortnight
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned. We manage 90 shopping centres across Canberra and clean them as follows.
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required. We manage 73 toilets across Canberra.
Storm clean-up will continue focusing on clearing fallen material along main arterial roads.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
