General updates
Death cap mushrooms: Inspections and removals continue throughout autumn with 170 mushrooms collected so far at a known site.
Libraries: Libraries ACT branches will be closed on Wednesday 26 March 2025 for a computer system upgrade. Lift replacement works are also underway at Tuggeranong and Belconnen libraries.
Light rail maintenance: Evening maintenance will be underway between Alinga Street and Sandford Street from Sunday 23 March to Thursday 27 March 2025. Buses will replace light rail services between Alinga Street and Sandford Street during this time. For more information see Transport Canberra.
Sportsground maintenance closures: Most ACT Government irrigated sportsgrounds are closed for maintenance and will reopen on Tuesday 1 April 2025. For more information see sportsgrounds.
ACT parks and reserves: Crews are undertaking joint surveillance with NSW Local Land Services and the Yass Valley Council for alligator weed at the NSW/ACT border of Ginninderra Creek. Crews will also be undertaking pre-burn works at the Uriarra Station prescribed burn site.
Mowing: The seasonal mowing program is underway with mowing in Belconnen, Bruce, Higgins, Latham and along Ginninderra Drive.

Trees: Crews are completing jobs in Belconnen and Kaleen. They are also watering young trees across Belconnen.
ACT parks and reserves: Chemical treatment of blackberry is taking place to the west of the Arboretum.
Mowing: The seasonal mowing program is underway with mowing in Barton, Deakin, O’Connor, Turner and along Majura Road and Majura Parkway.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Central Canberra region including:
Beltana Road upgrade, Pialligo: Completion of the upgrade works on Beltana Road is expected later this month, weather permitting. Works are currently continuing on the landscaping, line marking and signage.
Sprent Park, Narrabundah: Temporary fencing around the playground has been removed following minor maintenance works. The playground is open.
Construction continues adjacent to the Bizant Street playground. The refurbished table and new concrete pad are complete. The new toilets are also nearing completion.
Line marking along Nellie Hamilton Avenue and Strayleaf Crescent is complete, and the car spaces are now open to the public. New carpark signage has also been installed. The new parking at Phyllis Ashton Circuit remains closed until the streetlights and bollards are installed.
From Monday 10 March to Tuesday 10 June 2025 the ACT Government is conducting their annual 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baiting program targeting wild dogs, foxes and feral pigs in various areas of Namadgi National Park, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and the Murrumbidgee River Corridor. All areas will be clearly indicated with warning signs.
The showers at Woods Reserve campground are unavailable until further notice. Guests with confirmed bookings will be notified and given options for a refund and cancellation, a refund of the cost difference, or the option to move to another campsite.
In the Eucalypt Forest at Tidbinbilla, the Koala Path and Peppermint Trail will be closed to conduct Swamp Wallaby health checks from 3 pm Tuesday 25 March until Friday 28 March. The koala viewing enclosure will remain open to the public during these times.

Illegal dumping: Licencing and compliance officers are targeting illegal dumping on the Monaro Highway.
Mowing: The seasonal mowing program is underway with mowing in Chisholm, Greenway, Kambah (west), Richardson and along Drakeford Drive.
Playgrounds: The flying fox in Kambah is being repaired and is expected to reopen this week.
Roads and paths: Corin Road is closed for maintenance from Square Rock carpark gate to Corin Dam on weekdays from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm until Friday 28 March 2025. Crews are also undertaking:

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Tuggeranong region including:
Calwell Group Centre improvements: Final touches on the playground and landscape areas at the main entrance to the shops will be completed this week. All works are expected to be complete in the coming fortnight.
Glendale picnic area upgrades: Work is underway to upgrade and install new picnic facilities such as tables and shelters at Glendale picnic area in the Namadgi National Park. The work will take a few weeks to complete and will remain open to the public.
Lanyon dog park: Construction is continuing with underground water works for the drinking fountain. The community may notice works on the corner of Birchall Street and Jim Pike Avenue for several weeks. Temporary traffic management arrangements are in place.
Monaro Highway upgrade: Earthworks and pavement widening for the median of both carriageways and construction of bridge 1 is ongoing.
Namadgi National Park Visitors Centre upgrades: Work is underway to upgrade and install new BBQ and picnic facilities, walking tracks and an art installation at the Namadgi National Park Visitors Centre. The upgrades aim to provide accessible facilities for the community to enjoy while also recognising the 2020 Orroral Valley bushfire. The Visitors Centre will remain open while work is underway.

Swimming areas: Swimming areas along the Murrumbidgee River and Cotter River are open for swimming. For a full list of swimming areas and their status see water quality.
Trees: Crews are completing jobs in Garran, Hughes and O’Malley. They are also watering young trees across Woden and Weston Creek.
Molonglo River Bridge: Multiple semi-trailers carrying a giant crane which will be used during construction are due for delivery on site over the coming days. Girders for the bridge construction are also arriving on site with the first one expected during the week.
The old accessible toilet will be closed for approximately 2 days in April to allow for exterior wall and entry door work to be completed. Signage will be installed to notify the community prior to closure.
The community will continue to have access to the onsite unisex temporary toilets.
During the closure, those who need an accessible toilet will need to use the Mawson Club. You will be required to sign in and out (unless you are a member) and must leave the club once you have finished using the accessible toilet. The onsite unisex temporary toilets will remain open.
Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year. We manage 125 barbecues across Canberra.
Graffiti is removed within 5 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. There are over 160 urban lakes and ponds around Canberra. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected. We manage over 500 playgrounds across Canberra.
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) are inspected every fortnight
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned. We manage 90 shopping centres across Canberra and clean them as follows.
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required. We manage 73 toilets across Canberra.
Storm clean-up will continue focusing on clearing fallen material along main arterial roads.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
