Drive so others survive


Sunday 11 May marks the start of National Road Safety Week 2025.

Every year, around 1,300 people are killed and another 40,000 are seriously injured on Australian roads.

National Road Safety Week provides an important opportunity to remind Canberrans that road safety is everyone’s responsibility as we work toward Vision Zero – no deaths or serious injuries on our roads.

All Canberrans are being urged to take the pledge to drive so others survive. This means:

On Friday 16 May 2025, schools across Canberra will also celebrate National Walk Safely to School Day. This annual event provides an opportunity for parents, carers and teachers to promote safe pedestrian behaviours including vital road-crossing skills.
