Some sportsgrounds to close for maintenance ahead of summer sport
ACT Government irrigated sportsgrounds are being prepared for summer sport with most ovals closed and undergoing maintenance for a two-week period from Sunday 17 September to Saturday 30 September 2023 (inclusive).
Work will involve top dressing, (spreading a new layer of sand/soil) upgrades to turf, fertilising and removing goal posts. This maintenance period is carried out twice yearly at the beginning and end of the summer sport season.
To provide some sports with an opportunity to train ahead of the summer sport season, we have been working with peak sporting bodies and will leave some grounds open during this time.
Sporting groups planning on using these grounds in this way will need to liaise with their sport peak body who will make the necessary arrangements with the ACT Government.
A list of the 21 fields that will remain open for bookings during the traditional maintenance period is below. All synthetic cricket nets will also remain open.
- Holt (four fields)
- Kaleen (two fields)
