Beissel Street/Emu Bank intersection

Work will commence this month to signalise the intersection of Beissel Street and Emu Bank.

The development approval for the Cirrus development, which will be located on Emu Bank, requires signalisation of this intersection. The development application was publicly notified in mid-2016 with traffic studies recommending the signalisation to improve safety for all road users, including pedestrians.

To reduce possible future impacts to residents and the town centre, we will be undertaking the signalisation work as part of the Belconnen Bikeway project.

Once operational, the traffic lights at this intersection will be coordinated with the currently signalised intersections of Luxton Street and Benjamin Way on Emu Bank. This will ensure the continued flow of traffic for all road users, pedestrians and cyclists included.

Temporary changed traffic arrangements

From Tuesday 17 March 2020, Emu Bank will be closed between Luxton Street and Benjamin Way, including the intersection of Beissel Street.

There will be no access to or from Beissel Street at Emu Bank for approximately six weeks whilst this work is underway. Access to properties on Beissel Street and Evelyn Parker Place will be from the Joynton Smith Drive intersection only.

Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained during this closure.
