Cosmetics
Cosmetic containers and plastic tubes such as sunscreen, toothpaste, lipsticks and dental floss packaging must not go in your household recycling bin.
Disposal options
- Glass tubs (larger than a credit card and with the lid off) can go in your household recycling bin
- Selected empty make-up containers can be recycled at major pharmacies and beauty retailers. Check Terracycle to find free drop off points across Canberra
- Banish Recycling and Disposal Program (receive a $15 voucher for every package you send)
- Landfill bin.
Why?
Most cosmetic packaging is made from mixed materials, which can’t be sorted and separated in the household recycling facility.
