Cutlery (compostable)
Cutlery made of plant-based fibres such as wood or bamboo should be placed in your general waste bin. They are not accepted in the ACT household recycling, green garden waste or FOGO bins.
Disposal options
- Avoid disposable products where possible
- For commercial volumes of compostable cutlery, contact one or more commercial waste collections contractors to discuss available organics collection options that suit your needs
- Items marked with the AS 5810 home compostable logo can be placed in your home compost. Break into small pieces first.

Why?
These products cannot be recycled in the same way as plastic or cardboard and need to be composted. Our Materials Recovery Facility that receives the contents of your recycling bin does not accept and recover these items for composting.
