Envelopes (plain, window faced and/or padded)
Paper envelopes can be place in the recycling bin. Plastic or mixed material envelopes can be reused or taken for alternative recycling.
Disposal options
- Recycling bin even for those with a plastic window face.
- Padded paper envelopes (where the padding is made from paper pulp) can be placed in the recycling bin.
- Padded envelopes that are lined with bubble wrap can be reused or placed in the rubbish bin.
- Post Packs (often sold as ‘Express Post Packs’ from the Post Office) are made from soft plastic and must go in the landfill bin.
Why?
Envelopes can be recycled into paper or cardboard products which reduces the demand and energy required to manufacture from raw forest products.
