Ink cartridges
Expired ink cartridges do not go in your general waste or recycling bin. They must be recycled through a specialist recycling program.
Disposal options
- Ink cartridges are not accepted at Resources Management Centres.
- Drop off at all Officeworks and participating Australia Post, Harvey Norman, Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi retail outlets. Inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges and toner bottles are accepted. This includes cartridges used in printers, photocopiers and fax machines. Find a printer cartridge recycling drop-off point
- If your school, workplace or business has more than 3 printer cartridges per month, arrange a free pick up service by registering for a Cartridges 4 Planet Ark workplace collection box.
- For commercial quantities, contact businesses who specialise in the recycling of large quantities of hazardous waste.
Why?
Printer cartridges are made up of a complex mix of plastics, metal, inks and toners. When they are recovered they can be used to create new products.
