Meat trays
Some types of plastic meat trays can be recycled in the ACT. Polystyrene meat trays are not recyclable in the ACT.
Disposal options
- Put trays with Plastic Identification Codes of 1, 2, 3 and 5 in recycling bin - containers must be empty and dry
- Put trays with Plastic Identification Codes of 4, 6 and 7 in rubbish bin
- The meat juice pad and soft plastic film go in the rubbish bin
Why?
Rigid plastics with codes 1, 2, 3 and 5 are sorted and baled at our Materials Recovery Facility for recycling into new plastic products.
