Disposal options
- Dispose of unused and expired pharmaceutical medicines at your participating local pharmacy. They will dispose of medicines responsibly through the National Return and Disposal of Unwanted Medicines Project (RUM Project).
- Smaller quantities of over-the-counter medications can be put in your household general waste bin.
Why?
The RUM Project is a not-for-profit company that is funded by the Commonwealth Government. It was established to facilitate the collection and disposal of unwanted and expired medicines from the public.
The RUM Project operates in over 6,000 pharmacies in Australia.
