Plastic containers
Plastic containers are often reusable, and some can be recycled in ACT depending on the type of plastic it is made from.
Disposal options
- Avoid and reuse when possible.
- Recycle items with a Plastic Identification Code of 1, 2, 3 and 5. Containers must be empty and dry.
- Drop off excess recycling free at a Recycling Drop Off Centre.
- Items with a Plastic Identification Code of 4, 6 and 7 including polystyrene go in the rubbish bin.
Why?
Household packaging with a Plastic Identification Code of 1, 2, 3 and 5 are sorted and baled for recycling at our Materials Recovery Facility in the ACT.
