Books, comics, magazines, newspapers and pamphlets
Books, comics, magazines, newspapers, pamphlets and encyclopaedias can be donated for reuse, sold, given away or put in your household recycling bin.
Disposal options
- Give to a friend, donate to charity or sell online.
- Visit and drop books at a local street library. Search for ACT locations on their site.
- Donate to Lifeline who accepts clean books, comics and encyclopaedias (pre-1940 or the last 20 years only). Materials in languages other than English are welcome. Lifeline does not accept condensed Readers Digest books. Drop off Monday to Saturdays between 10am – 2pm.
- Call to arrange a large donation pick up, or drop off at:

- Books, comics, magazines, newspapers, pamphlets can be placed in your recycling bin. Please ensure book spines and plastic covers are removed.
- Excess recycling can be dropped off free at a Recycling Drop Off Centre.
Why?
Paper and cardboard are sorted at our material recycling facility in the ACT and is used to create new paper and cardboard products.
