Cars contain a large proportion of metal which is recyclable. Search online for companies who recycle vehicles for scrap metal or resale.
Disposal options
- If your car is in a road-worthy condition, you may be able to sell it privately or trade-in when you buy a new one
- Contact a business that specialise in the collection, recycling and/or reusing of metal, such as:

- Materials made predominantly of metal (80 percent) can be dropped free at the following Transfer Stations as the metal can be recovered:
- Donate it to charity via Charity Cars. Charity Cars will come to you and take away any unwanted vehicles for FREE. These include: unwanted cars, burnt out cars, and other unwanted vehicles such as trailers, 4 wheel drivers and motorbikes. 20% of the vehicle’s sold or scrapped value will go directly to OzHarvest Canberra to help them continue their very important work in the Canberra region
