Christmas trees (real/green waste)
Christmas trees are garden waste. Please do not put green waste in your rubbish or recycling bin. They are also too large to put whole into your green waste bins.
Disposal options
- Drop off free at the Green Waste facility at Mugga Lane Resource Management Centre (Corkhill Bros Ph: 6280 4011 or visit the Corkhill Bros website) for recycling. Conditions apply.
- Cut into small pieces (no longer than 45cm, branch diameter less than 10cm) to recycle via your fortnightly green waste bin collection.
- Drop off for a small fee (10 visits for $10) at Mitchell Canberra Sand and Gravel (CSG) (Vicars Street) Ph: 6241 5945 or visit the Canberra Sand and Gravel website for recycling. Conditions apply.
- Drop off free at Parkwood Yard, Belconnen, Canberra Sand and Gravel (CSG) Ph: 6255 1995 Conditions apply.
Why?
Garden waste is made into a variety of compost products which are offered for commercial sale. Keeping garden waste out of your rubbish bin eliminates over reliance on landfill and the creation of methane gas at the landfill.
