Decorations, lights and trees
Do not place decorations and lights in your household recycling bin. Plain printed cards and envelopes can be placed in your recycling bin.
Disposal options
If in good condition and reusable
- Reuse at home – e.g. make gift tags from cards, reuse ribbon and gift bags for other gifts or craft
- Give to a friend, donate to charity or sell online

If broken or unusable
- Place in your household general waste bin. Remove any batteries and place lights in a bag. Loose strings of lights can damage waste equipment.
- Items with an embedded battery must never be placed in your household bins. Drop off for free in the hazardous waste area at:
- Items too large for your landfill bin may be suitable for a bulky waste collection, or can be dropped off fees apply at:

Our Materials Recovery Facility is designed to process household packaging. Materials such as decorations and lights can also damage the equipment.
