Fabric and textiles can be reused or repurposed. Do not place them in your household recycling bin.
Disposal options
- Give to a friend, donate to charity or sell online.
- Drop off for free at Goodies Junction at:
- Donate to businesses and charities that specialise in the acceptance and resale of second-hand clothing, blankets and fabrics. For example:
- Repurpose unwanted fabrics to rags where possible
- Return old sheets and towels (any brand) to Sheridan Boutique stores (Manuka and Fyshwick)
- Other unusable textiles and fabrics can be donated to ACT Wildlife or Wildcare Queanbeyan for use in animal welfare
- Send to Upparel for reuse and recycling or take to a free Upparel drop-off point at a partner retailer
- Contact your local preschool or childcare centre who may repurpose items
- Compost natural fibres in your backyard compost
- Place unusable textiles and fabric in your household landfill bin.
Why?
Fabrics are not accepted in the household recycling bin as they get tangled and damage machinery at the Materials Recovery Facility.
