Pots, pans and metal kitchenware must not go in your household recycling bin.
Disposal options
- If reusable, drop off for free at Goodies Junction at:
- Consider businesses and charities that specialise in the acceptance and resale of second-hand items, (ring for opening times and shop locations) such as:
- Items in good condition, can be donated to GIVIT – a national not-for-profit connecting those who have with those who need, in a private and safe way
- Recycle old metal cookware by dropping them off at the Act Together drop-off station in Myer Canberra City
- Items made predominantly of 80% metal can be dropped off for free at the following Resource Management Centres as the metal can be recovered:
- Broken items can go in the landfill bin as a last resort
Why?
Metal kitchenware cannot be recycled via our Materials Recovery Facility in the ACT. Items made from at least 80% metal can be recycled via a scrap metal merchant.
