Cameras, video cameras/recorders and lenses must not be placed in your household recycling or general waste bin.
Disposal options
- Donate, sell or gift items where possible. Consider repairing items to extend their life before disposal, including donating items to organisations that repair items or use parts to make new products. Visit our reuse page for options.
- Donate items in good condition to Goodies Junction at:
- Contact a local business that specialises in recycling both working and non-working cameras, such as:
- Cameras and video recorders can be dropped off for free as part of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme at:
- All batteries must be removed from cameras prior to disposal. Batteries can then be recycled through the B-cycle program.
Why?
Cameras and accessories contain valuable materials like aluminium, gold, silver and copper that can be extracted and reused. Recycling these items reduces the need to mine for new raw materials.
