If you have a piece of furniture that can be reused or restored, consider giving it away, donating to charity or selling it.
Disposal options
- Give to a friend, donate to charity or sell online.
- If reusable, drop off for free at Goodies Junction at:
- Contact a business that specialises in the collection and resale of second-hand furniture.
- Contact a business that specialises in the collection, recycling and/or reusing of metal, such as:

- Consider getting a bulky waste collection.
- Materials made predominantly of metal (80% or more) can be dropped free at Mugga Lane Resource Management Centre or Mitchell Resource Management Centre transfer stations as the metal can be recovered.
- Broken items can be taken to the transfer station - fees apply.
Additional Information
Do not leave furniture or other larger items outside charities or on your nature strip. This is illegal, and fines can be issued.
Why?
Furniture at the end of its useful life can often be recycled, especially items made from wood and metal. Furniture must not go in the recycling bin as it damages the machinery at the Materials Recovery Facility.
