Lawn mowers and their parts can be reused and must not be placed in your household bins.
Disposal options
- Donate, sell or gift items where possible. Consider repairing items to extend their life before disposal, including donating items to organisations that repair items or use parts to make new products. Visit our reuse page for options
- If in good working condition, drop off for free to Goodies Junction at:
- Items made of more than 80% metal can be dropped off for free in the metal recycling area of the Resource Management Centres.
- Lawn mowers may contain batteries and must never be placed in your household bins. Dispose of any batteries safely through approved battery recycling options, including B‑cycle drop‑off points or free drop‑off at Resource Management Centres.
- Do not place fuel, oil or other hazardous liquids in your household bins or pour them down drains. These must be removed from lawn mowers and can be dropped off for free at Resource Management Centres (conditions apply).
- Book a free Bulky Waste Collection. Follow the preparation requirements provided when booking (conditions apply).
- Lawn mowers that have an electric cord and are damaged need to be disposed of as general waste.
- Contact a business that specialise in the collection, recycling and/or reuse of metal, such as:
