Do not place solar panels in your household recycling bin. See below for disposal options.
Disposal options
- Donate, sell or gift items where possible. Consider repairing items to extend their life before disposal, including donating items to organisations that repair items or use parts to make new products. Visit our reuse page for options.
- Small solar panels and solar lights (with batteries removed) can be put in your household general waste bin.
- Metal framed solar panels – a maximum of 5 solar panels, per day, can be dropped off for free in the metal recycling area at:
- Glass solar panels (also called glass-glass solar panels or double glass solar panels) as well as folding solar panels and blankets with fabric backing can be dropped off as general waste (fees apply) at:
- Items such as solar garden lights may contain batteries. Check the batteries page for disposal guidance.
