The Summernats car festival will be held from Thursday 8 January to Sunday 11 January 2026 at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC).
A number of road closures and changed traffic arrangements will be in place for the event.

Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue closures on Thursday 8 January 2026
The City Street Cruise will be held on Thursday 8 January 2026, from 12 pm. There will be temporary rolling road closures on occasions between 11 am and 1:30 pm. This will apply to all traffic including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. Road closures will occur at:
- Federal Highway closed southbound from Antill Street to the Barton Highway
- Northbourne Avenue closed in both directions from Flemington Road to Bunda Street / Rudd Street.
Traffic management including signage and detours will be in place to safely divert the community.
Delays are expected and road users should seek an alternate route where possible.
Braddon Fringe festival from Thursday 8 January to Saturday 10 January 2026
Road closures will be in place daily from 3 pm until midnight on Thursday 8 January, Friday 9 January and Saturday 10 January 2026.
The following road closures (local traffic excepted) will be in place:
- Mort Street from Cooyong Street to Girrahween Street
- Lonsdale Street from Cooyong Street to Girrahween Street
- Elouera Street from Mort Street to Torrens Street
- Torrens Street from Cooyong Street to Girrahween Street
- Girrahween Street from Mort Street to Torrens Street
Road closures near EPIC from Thursday 8 January 2026 to Sunday 11 January 2026
Flemington Road will be closed in both directions from the Federal Highway to Randwick Road (authorised event vehicles, light rail and emergency vehicles excepted) at the following times:
- Thursday 8 January 2026 from 7 am to midnight
- Friday 9 January 2026 from 7 am to 1 am (Saturday)
- Saturday 10 January 2026 from 7 am to 1 am (Sunday)
- Sunday 11 January 2026 from 7 am to 7 pm.
The following traffic changes will be in place daily between 8:30 am and 2 pm from Thursday 8 January until Sunday 11 January 2026:
- for event vehicle entrants, egress out of Gate 1 will be permitted (right turn only in a northbound direction) on Flemington Road
- Flemington Road will be closed at the Randwick Road intersection for southbound traffic
- Stirling Avenue in Watson will be closed from the Federal Highway to Aspinall Street from 7 pm on Thursday 8 January until 7 pm on Sunday 11 January 2026 (local traffic excepted).
