Making a claim for pothole damage


If you wish to make a claim for damage to your vehicle as a result of hitting a pothole, please complete our online form.

The ACT Government is not automatically liable for damage caused by potholes on its roads and will not meet claims where it is not liable. The ACT has an extensive road system and it’s not possible to be aware of every defect or to undertake repairs immediately.

If your claim is not accepted, you are free to seek your own legal advice.

The ACT Government takes safety on our road network seriously. We encourage all road users to share responsibility for their safety. 

Periods of consistent or heavy rainfall may increase damage to our roads. Please drive safely during these wet conditions.
