To ensure your application is assessed in time we recommend submitting your application at least 14 days in advance. Once the application is approved you will receive a permit with terms and conditions via email.
Access to nature reserves and fire trails is managed via Parks and Conservation Service. Please do not use this application form. For information on how to apply please contact Athllon Depot on 6207 2087 (South Canberra) or Mitchell Depot on 6207 2113 (North Canberra).
Application information
Applications must be submitted with the information outlined below. Applicants will be contacted within 2 business days if their application is missing the required information.
Please note: the applicant must be the one accessing the gate, and they will be held liable for any incident as a result of access.
Applications by residents
Please supply the following with your application form:
map showing the location of the gate, the route you are using and the destination you are travelling to
temporary traffic management plan if your applications is made for a period of 3 or more days or you require access by more than a large car and trailer (maximum 4 tonnes combined). To obtain a temporary traffic management plan contact Roads ACT on 13 22 81.
Applications by companies and contractors
Please supply the following with your application form:
map showing the location of the gate, the route you are using and the destination you are travelling to
proof of $10 million public liability insurance
an approved temporary traffic management plan issued by Roads ACT (costs will be incurred for this approval). To obtain a temporary traffic management plan contact Roads ACT on 13 22 81.

In most cases a combination lock will be allocated, however if this is not possible a key will be issued. A bond of $85 will apply, which is refunded when the key is returned.
