For after hours urgent public health matters including environmental health, radiation safety, food poisoning and communicable disease management phone:
Dog owners represent a significant proportion of people using public spaces, including dog parks. The community desire dog off-lead areas to provide a safe environment for their pets to exercise. Fenced dog exercise areas contribute to the effective management of dogs in public spaces by providing controlled space where dogs can freely exercise and play. They also assist in alleviating the pressure on shared recreational areas.
A regular program of minor and more significant upgrades take place annually across our seven dog parks.
Casey dog park, Springbank Rise
Improvements works including grassing, mulching and the relocation of two bench seats commenced in July 2023. This required the closure of the dog park to allow for the grass to grow and consolidate. The dog park was initially expected to reopen ahead of the summer holiday break, however damage sustained during the storm event on Friday 8 December 2023 has meant this was unable to occur. The large dog park area reopened to the public in March 2024. Signage has been installed to direct the community to the lower entrance near Horse Park Drive. The carpark remains closed for upgrade works associated with the new Casey community recreation park. The small dog park area will reopen following the completion of these upgrade works.
