Goliath Court, O'Connor
Work will begin in the coming weeks to deliver stormwater upgrades in and around Goliath Court in O’Connor. Construction is expected to take approximately six months to complete (weather permitting).
Upcoming work
Work is expected to begin on site from Monday 15 April 2024 (weather permitting). The first activities will be site establishment including installing the site compound and sheds which will be located in the urban open space adjacent to David Street.
Work will be carried out as dayworks only between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday. If required, work may be undertaken on weekends between 8 am and 4 pm.
Activities include:
- fencing of worksite and installation of tree protection fencing around trees not impacted by the works
- demolition, excavation, construction and transportation of materials using a range of vehicles including bob cats, excavators and trucks
- asphalting where road surfaces are impacted by the works.
Some trees will be removed to facilitate these upgrades. Trees will be replaced at a ratio of 2:1 which on this project will see 3 trees removed and 6 trees planted in replacement. Tree removal will begin from Tuesday 23 April 2024.
Staging of works
To minimise impacts to residents and businesses within the local O’Connor shops, works will be staged with each stage taking one to two months to complete (weather permitting). As works are progressively completed, sections will open up and new sections will close.
- Stage 1: upgrading and installing new stormwater pipes through the urban open space adjacent to Sullivans Creek from Condamine Street.
- Stage 2: installing two new stormwater connections across David Street and adjacent to Goliath Court, this may include temporary closures of David Street
- upgrading and installing new stormwater pipes within the O’Connor shops.
- Stage 3: upgrades within the O’Connor shops (kerbs, footpaths, etc) along with reconstruction of the vehicle crossings at the entrances to Bluebell and Sargood streets from Macpherson Street.
Stage 1 upgrades
Traffic and pedestrian access
Pedestrian, shopfront and residential property access will be maintained at all times. For safety reasons, there will be detours in place for pedestrians around the various worksites.
There will be temporary changes for road users along Macpherson Street and David Street. This may include partial or full road closures. Roadside signage will be in place and updates provided via this page.
