Report tree vandalism

Did you know there are more than 820,000 trees across the ACT on public land?

This includes:

• suburban street trees
• trees along major roads and medians
• trees at local shopping centres
• trees in parks and open spaces.

All trees on public land are protected under the Urban Forest Act 2023.

Helping care for our trees helps them thrive. In return, they keep our streets cooler, boost our wellbeing, attract more wildlife, and make our neighbourhoods more inviting and vibrant.

Penalties for tree vandalism

Vandalism of trees is a serious offence and can result in on-the-spot fines or court-imposed penalties of up to $80,000 for an individual and $405,000 for a corporation.
