Project description
In 2021 improvements were completed to the public space between the Belconnen Arts Centre (BAC) and Lake Ginninderra to create a more useable public space.
Key features
- A walking and cycling path on the lakeshore connecting the commercial precinct to the east of the BAC with the public parkland at Emu Inlet to the west (completing the missing link in the Lake Ginninderra foreshore path).
- Construction of mini wetlands to filter stormwater runoff from the nearby BAC car park, improving water quality of Lake Ginninderra.
- Raised mini-mesh walkway over the wetlands with lookout platforms at either end for people to rest and enjoy the over-water experience.
- Stone logs along the eastern and western edges of the foreshore to address water erosion and allow for direct access to the lake.
- Landscaping, including wetland plantings and additional trees.
- Lighting along the length of the path to enable nighttime use.
- Direct access from the path to the lakeside entrance of the BAC.
Construction
- Start date: November 2020
- Completion date: October 2021
