Project description
Construction has been completed to upgrade the intersection of Kuringa Drive and Owen Dixon Drive in Spence. This intersection has been signalised to improve safety. As well as improving safety, this project will also relieve congestion at the intersection and has created safer crossing opportunities for pedestrians and cyclists.
This project was funded jointly by the ACT Government and the Australian Government as part of the Shovel Ready Infrastructure Investment Program.
Key features
- Traffic lights to improve the safety of road users and establish a smooth flow of vehicles, reduce travel times and lower the risk of accidents.
- Additional through lane westbound on Kuringa Drive.
- New right turn lane from Kuringa Drive into Owen Dixon Drive.
- New 3 metre wide asphalt path along Kuringa Drive between the Barton Highway and Owen Dixon Drive.
- New medians and linemarking.
- Realigned high angle left turn from Kuringa Drive into Owen Dixon Drive.
- Realigned high angle left turn from Owen Dixon into Kuringa Drive.
- New signalised pedestrian crossings.
- Upgrading of footpaths and kerb ramps, linking the intersection to the surrounding path network.
- Landscaping, including grassing and shrubs.
