Project description

Complete: Macquarie shops improvements.

Improvements have been made to the local shops at Macquarie Place, improving both accessibility and amenity in the area. These upgrades are designed to encourage the community to shop locally and spend more time in their neighbourhood.

Residents and visitors can enjoy the additional landscaping and tree planting in the public spaces around the shops with new tables and seating, and an improved playground for the community to enjoy. Further to this, new accessible parking bays and improved lighting have been installed to enhance the safety and accessibility of the area.

Key features

  • new seating and tables
  • improved playground with nature play and play elements including balancing logs and steppers
  • art murals
  • new accessible parking bays
  • additional trees and improved landscaping
  • safer pedestrian access in and around the car park including upgraded paths, stairways and lighting.

Engagement

We liaised with business owners and tenants to gather their feedback which helped inform the preliminary design for the project.

In June 2023 we released the preliminary design for the broader community to see what minor improvements should be included in the public spaces surrounding the local shops.
