Morisset Road extension


Project description

Preliminary design work was undertaken to upgrade Morisset Road to complete the orbital freight network and to support future land development in the area. Morisset Road is currently 750 metres long and built to rural road standards. The Sullivans Creek crossing also floods during high rainfall events.

This project includes upgrading the existing road to meet current design standards, extending it by 1.25 kilometres to the Antill Street/Federal Highway intersection and providing stormwater infrastructure on Sullivan’s Creek to reduce flooding incidents.

In providing a link directly to the Federal Highway along Morisset Road, heavy vehicle traffic would be diverted away from Flemington Road improving safety for all road users and providing opportunities for active travel infrastructure, including the provision of paths for pedestrians and cyclists directly to the Mitchell light rail stop.

Construction of this project is dependent on future funding opportunities.
