Project description
Complete: Gundaroo Drive duplication stage 3.
The ACT Government has upgraded Gundaroo Drive to a dual carriageway between Ginninderra Drive and the Barton Highway. The project began in January 2021 and was completed in May 2025.
These significant road and bridge works delivered a smoother and safer road. Better connecting Gungahlin and Belconnen for all road users including cyclists.
The project was jointly funded by the Australian and ACT Governments under the Infrastructure Investment Program.
Key features
- Two lanes in each direction between Ginninderra Drive and the Barton Highway.
- 6.4 kilometres of new on-road cycle lanes.
- New signalised intersections at Dumas Street and Owen Dixon Drive.
- Widening of the existing roundabouts at Chuculba Crescent and Baldwin Drive.
- New bridges on Gundaroo Drive over Ginninderra Creek (northbound and southbound).
- New wider underpasses to replace the existing structures including new lighting and connecting paths.
- Additional bus stops and an upgrade of the existing ones.
- Over 680 new trees to replace the 365 trees that had to be removed for the project.
