Improvements delivered in 2021-22
Initial improvements delivered in 2021-22 include:
- 8 new seats
- new plantings
- 22 new path signs and additional line marking at key locations
- drainage works along the path network
- solar lighting
- new softfall for the flying fox
- a new half climbing wall
- new bin shrouds.
A new nature play space was also delivered in 2020 with an aquatic theme which features a central climbable turtle paying homage to the species living in our local waterways.
Floating wetland
The Directorate delivered a floating wetland at Yerrabi Pond in 2023. The floating wetland helps improve water quality and minimise harmful algae. You can find out more about this project on the Environment website.
New lighting around the pond loop path

New LED lighting has been installed along Mirrabei Drive and down towards Bizant Street on the western side of the pond. Lighting has also been installed along the path from the intersection of Mirrabei Drive and Gundaroo Drive to the Gungahlin skatepark and at the skatepark. These works were completed in late 2024.

Wunderlich Street

- Removal of the existing toilet facilities that were replaced with 2 new unisex accessible toilets with baby change tables.
- Three new unisex toilets.
- Upgraded picnic facilities on the playground side, which included a refurbished shelter and new BBQ facilities. Improvements in this area included 5 more tables, rubbish bins and lighting.
- Two new drinking fountains, bicycle parking and installation of garden beds and 4 new trees.
Bizant Street

- A new unisex accessible toilet.
- Two new shelters, 4 new picnic settings and 4 new barbecues.
- Line marking the existing car park, including 2 accessible parking spaces.
- New garden beds and new trees.
Phyllis Ashton Circuit/Strayleaf Crescent/Nellie Hamilton Avenue
Parking improvements

- Over 20 new car parks along Phyllis Ashton Circuit. This includes:
- 10 new car parks
- line marking 13 new car parks where it was previously marked as ‘No Parking’
- the conversion of a restricted access area to 4 additional car parks that will be unavailable to the community twice yearly for maintenance access.
- Line marking over 40 parallel parking spaces along Nellie Hamilton Avenue. The 6 existing car parks adjacent to the commercial area on the western side of Nellie Hamilton Avenue have changed from 2-hour parking, 24 hours a day to all day parking. This is consistent with the rest of the parking spaces on Nellie Hamilton Avenue.
- The parking arrangements near the commercial area on Phyllis Ashton Circuit consist of a mix of 2-hour and 3-hour timed parking to support businesses. These restrictions are in effect between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm Monday to Friday.
- The parking arrangements on Strayleaf Crescent consist of a mix of 2-hour parking between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm Monday to Friday and all-day parking. Refer to plan for locations.
- Road pavement markings have been installed to highlight the existing 10 km/h shared zones on Phyllis Ashton Circuit and Strayleaf Crescent.
Public space improvements
- Three new picnic settings plus 3 refurbished picnic settings on Strayleaf Crescent near to the existing facilities and repair of the pavement in this area.
