Fast-track program
The ACT Government is fast tracking infrastructure projects to deliver jobs and support local business. The program focuses on work that can start immediately and supports local jobs, businesses and our Canberra community.
The projects include infrastructure and maintenance work on government-owned community buildings, schools and other facilities across the city.
The $35 million program will support the ACT economy and provide Canberrans with better infrastructure and services long into the future.

Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program
The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program is an Australian Government funded program supporting local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economic to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Targeted Road Safety Work Program
The Targeted Road Safety Work Program is an Australian Government funded program investing in road safety to move towards zero fatalities and serious injuries on our roads.
These projects will improve road user safety and be completed within 12 months, providing an immediate boost to the economy and local jobs.
Road Safety Program
Under the $110 billion Infrastructure Investment Program, the Australian Government is making funding available to retrofit lifesaving road safety upgrades and improvements to regional and urban roads where a greater than moderate risk is present. The funding is available for proactive and reactive road safety treatments to prevent fatal and serious injury road crashes.
The projects being delivered within this program in the ACT are jointly funded between the Australian Government and the ACT Government.
Shovel Ready Infrastructure Investment Program
The Shovel Ready Infrastructure Investment Program is an Australian Government program, with the below projects jointly funded with the ACT Government.
This program is supporting projects that can get underway quickly, providing an immediate boost to the economy and local jobs.

Local and group shopping centre upgrades - Minor refresh works to the shops in Kaleen (East), Macgregor, Macquarie, Page, Spence (NW), Spence (SE) and Weetangera, such as small-scale pathway and kerb ramp improvements for accessibility and safety.
- A feasibility study for an upgrade of the Kippax group centre which will respond to community feedback received in the development of the Kippax Group Centre Master Plan. The study will consider opportunities for creating a community hub and central plaza area for the centre with active meeting places, a reconfigured car park layout and improved pedestrian and cyclist connections to and within the centre.

- A new 200m long path on the north-western side of the open space in Jandura Park between Boronia Drive and Wattle Street in O'Connor.
- A new 195m long path along the western verge of Chowne Street from Creswell Street in Campbell.
- A new 80m long path along the length of Page Street, linking up to the existing footpath which runs along Anzac Park in Campbell.
- A new pram ramp and widening of the paved area adjoining the footpath on the eastern verge of the zebra crossing adjacent to Dickson College in Hackett.
- A new 180m long path linking bus stop 3196 on Antill Street (before Phillip Avenue) to the existing footpath adjacent to St. Margaret's Uniting Church in Hackett.
- A new 200m long path adjacent to the McCaughey Street open space, running through Haig Park between Condamine Street and Masson Street in Turner. An additional link will also be constructed across Condamine Street to link with the existing network.
- A new 385m long path on the north-western verge of Higinbotham Street between Hanson Place and Andrews Street in Watson.
- Construction of new safe cycling infrastructure linking the on and off-road networks, at the intersection of the Federal Highway and Stirling Avenue, in Watson.
- A new 750m long path on the southern side at the intersection of Newcastle Street and Whyalla Street linking with Canberra Avenue in Fyshwick.
- A new 140m long path along the southern side of Mildura Street between Dalby Street and the Fyshwick Markets in Griffith where it will connect to a wide path that runs to the entrance of the Markets.
- Line marking of a 32m on-road cycle lane on the Canberra Avenue service lane from the Ipswich Street end cul-de-sac in Fyshwick.
- A new 35m long path from the Brisbane Avenue underpass near Telopea Park to Lake Burley Griffin in Barton.
- A new 40m long path on the northern verge of Burke Crescent near the Wentworth Avenue crossing at the train station in Fyshwick.
- A new 345m long path in the open space between Blaxland Crescent and Barker Street in Griffith.
- A new 47m long path along the existing desire line from Bagot Street to the off-road network along Sullivan's Creek in O'Connor.
- A new 375m long path on Denison Street linking bus stop 3021 after King Street with bus stop 3017 outside the Royal Australian Mint.
- A new 50m long path on Elouera Street in front of the Halston Residences to provide improved access to the pay station.
- A new 290m long off-road cycle path from the Barton Highway through the open space and linking to the existing path on Ellenborough Street creating a link between North Lyneham and Belconnen.
- A new 10m long link on Canberra Avenue to the existing on-road cycle lane on the western side of Canberra Avenue 200m south of Norse Road in Beard.
