Parking lot

Additional parking for the Wanniassa Park and Ride near the corner of Rylah Crescent and Langdon Avenue was provided in 2020. Since its opening, this park and ride experienced huge growth in its use, with additional capacity necessary to make accessing Rapid services more convenient for even more passengers.

This project consisted of three elements:

  1. expanding the park and ride facility near the corner of Rylah Crescent and Langdon Avenue
  2. formalising kerbside parking along Rylah Crescent and installing park and ride signage
  3. installing park and ride signage in the existing car park behind the Wanniassa shops to create more capacity for park and ride use.

When it first opened the park and ride had 58 spaces. This project delivered an additional 43 spaces with the capacity for park and ride at Wanniassa now 101.

Additional parking for the North Weston Park and Ride located on Kirkpatrick Street was provided in 2020. This park and ride has proved very popular since it opened in 2014, and recent and expected growth in the Molonglo region will place extra pressure on it in the future. This location has been expanded by more than 40 car spaces which will enable more Canberrans to use the park and ride to access the new Rapid services.
