Project description

Complete: Evatt shops improvements.

Public space upgrades are complete at the local shops on the corner of Clancy Street and Heydon Crescent in Evatt. The works have improved access and the overall look and feel, encouraging the community to shop local and spend more time in their suburb.

A draft preliminary design was released for community feedback from June to August 2023. More information on the consultation process and the feedback received is available on YourSay Conversations.

Key features

  • New deck and sandstone amphitheatre with seating and tables providing spaces to sit and gather
  • Nature play elements which include a nest swing, balancing logs and steppers and a slide
  • New accessible parking bays
  • Additional trees and better landscaping
  • Improved access for pedestrians including paths, safe crossings, stairway and additional lighting
  • Resurfacing of the service area off McClure Street and improved access and safety at Heydon Crescent
  • New toilet
  • Murals to brighten up the public space around the shops
