Project description
Design is underway on Charnwood shops improvements
In the 2025-26 ACT Budget, the ACT Government committed to improving shops across Canberra. This includes public space upgrades at the Charnwood shops.
Charnwood shops in Belconnen are a valued community hub catering to local residents and those in the surrounding suburbs.
Surrounded by residential areas, the shops include a hairdresser, chemist, supermarket, retail shops, cafe, takeaway, gym, mechanic and a medical centre.
Upgrades to parking, landscaping, pedestrian access, seating, drainage and pathways at the group centre were delivered in 2024. This project will continue upgrades to the public spaces and may include new or improved lighting, furniture, pathways and paving, playground equipment, integrated community artwork, new signage, improved traffic and car parking arrangements and new landscaping and tree planting.
