Project description
Complete: Casey community recreation park.
The ACT Government has built a new recreation park in Casey to provide a wider range of outdoor recreation opportunities for local residents and contribute to the health and wellbeing of the community.
The community recreation park is an important addition to the recreation facilities currently available in Casey, which includes six modern playgrounds and an enclosed off-leash dog park.
Engagement was undertaken in 2022 with feedback invited on indicative designs and elements for inclusions. For more information on the consultation including a summary of the feedback visit YourSay.

Environmental considerations
An Environmental Significance Opinion and additional investigations were carried out to ensure the ecological communities near the site were protected. The construction footprint was contained to the areas of sediment pond which were identified when initial estate plans were developed and no native grasslands are impacted. Furthermore conservation areas have been identified for further maintenance and tree planting in partnership with local landcare groups.
Construction
Work started in September 2023 and was finished in July 2024. The community recreation park is now open to the public.
Casey dog park
The car park and the large area in the dog park is open to the public. This follows the completion of the car park upgrade and works including grassing, mulching and the relocation of 2 bench seats.
