Project description

Complete: the Mawson shops toilet upgrade.

The public toilets on Mawson Place at the Southlands Shopping Centre have been upgraded to provide the facilities people need to spend more time at these popular local shops. The old toilets have served the community well for the last 30 years, however, the infrastructure was ageing and in need of an upgrade.

There were concerns about the condition of the toilets and the hygiene issues this poses for the public as well as the staff that maintain it. A temporary toilet was provided to address these issues, while work was undertaken to upgrade the facility. These toilet facilities took up one accessible car park space during the works. The old accessible parking space was upgraded to meet current accessibility standards. This included an accessible ramp and permanent safety bollards.
