Project description
Complete: Narrabundah shops improvements.
The upgrades to the Narrabundah shops on Iluka Street were part of the Suburban Infrastructure Program to improve access and the overall look and feel, encouraging the community to shop local and spend more time in their suburbs.
We liaised with business owners and tenants whose feedback informed the preliminary design. In June 2023, we released the preliminary design for the broader community to see what minor improvements were planned for the public spaces surrounding their local shops.
Key features delivered:
- new seating and tables for the community to sit and gather
- new accessible parking bays
- new drinking fountain
- murals by Ngunnawal artist, Eddie Longford
- improved landscaping including permeable paving around existing trees to improve access to water
- seating elements were added to existing retaining walls
- formalised long term and short-term parking areas with signage
- installed speed humps at either end of the laneway to slow vehicles
- upgraded paths and stairways, including new pram ramps which improved safety and access in and around the shops.
