Project description

Planning is underway on Mawson shops upgrade

In the 2025-26 ACT Budget, the ACT Government committed to improving shops across Canberra. This includes public space upgrades at the Mawson shops.

The Mawson shops in Woden are a valued shopping precinct surrounded by residential areas. The shops include a jeweller, florist, retail shops, café supermarket, chemist, laundromat, restaurants and cafes, gym and hairdresser.

In July 2025 the public toilets were upgraded, including a new unisex accessible toilet. This project will continue upgrades to the public spaces and may include new or improved lighting, furniture, pathways and paving, playground equipment, integrated community artwork, new signage, improved traffic and car parking arrangements and new landscaping and tree planting.
