Project description

Complete: Calwell Group Centre improvements.

Public space upgrades at the local shops on Webber Crescent in Calwell are complete. The upgrades improved access and the overall look and feel of the shops to encourage the community to shop local.

Key features

  • New seating and tables providing spaces to sit and gather.
  • A new playground with nature play and accessible elements which include a nest swing, trampolines, a slide, steppers and a new shade sail.
  • New accessible parking bays.
  • Additional trees and upgraded landscaping including  new garden beds.
  • Improved access for pedestrians including paths and safe crossing points.
  • Upgraded lighting to enhance public safety.
  • Service gates to restrict parkland access.

A draft preliminary design was released for public consultation from June to August 2023. More information on the consultation process and the feedback received can be found on YourSay Conversations.

The final map design shows the key features including the upgraded playground catering for a range of ages with improved seating options and accessibility. Safer pedestrian connections. Additional lighting upgrades to improve safety and compliance. Additional seating and gathering spaces. Additional trees and better landscaping. Improve amenities. Additional and relocation of accessible parking bays.
