Bacteria testing at swimming areas has ceased due to cold water temperatures and will resume again in September. Please avoid swimming for several days after heavy rainfall as bacteria levels can be affected by such events. Blue-green algae testing is continuing over winter and the water quality webpage will be updated each week.

Trail upgrade works are underway on the Mount Painter Summit Track. The Summit Track will be temporarily closed while the work is carried out. During this time, the Lower Lookout will remain accessible via the East Summit Track. The works will take approximately 6 weeks to complete.
Maintenance work will be undertaken on some mountain bike trails in Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve.
Infrastructure projects:
Skatepark renewal works: Surface remediation works will begin at Charnwood Skatepark late in the week beginning Monday 8 June 2026. Works will take approximately 2 weeks to complete, weather permitting. The skatepark will be intermittently closed to users during this time. Please take note of any signage.
Mowing: Mowing is underway in Hawker and Macgregor.
Roads and paths: Crews are:

Minor track upgrades will be ongoing across Black Mountain Nature Reserve. No tracks will be closed to facilitate the works and signage will be in place to inform the public of ongoing works.
Gates will be repaired within O’Connor Nature Reserve to prevent illegal vehicle access.
Fencing that is no longer required and poses a hazard to native wildlife will be removed from Ainslie Nature Reserve.

Pavement rehabilitation, Fyshwick: Works started well but unfortunately are now delayed due to the weather conditions. They are expected to recommence once the rain has cleared.

Monaro Highway upgrade: Ongoing pavement construction works continue throughout the work area. Temporary traffic lights are in place northbound at the intersection of Monaro Highway and Lanyon Drive. During off-peak hours on weekdays, both northbound and southbound carriageways on the Monaro Highway may be reduced to one lane.

Booroomba Rocks Road is closed until Friday 12 June 2026 for essential road maintenance. The road will reopen on Saturday 13 June 2026.
The Gibraltar Falls viewing platform and walking track remain closed until later in 2026 to allow completion of signage and visitor safety infrastructure improvements at the site.
Minor works are underway at the Nature Discovery Playground at Sheedys picnic area in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. Please stay away from any new planting and newly laid turf (signposted) and be mindful of workers and machinery operating in the vicinity.
Namadgi National Park, areas within the Murrumbidgee River Corridor, Molonglo River Reserve, and selected areas adjacent to forestry land will be closed periodically for the annual Thermally Assisted Aerial Control program. Closures of areas will be staggered until Friday 12 June 2026. To stay up to date on park closures, visit the ACT Parks website. The Murrumbidgee Discovery Track will also be closed from Pine Island to Casuarina Sands, including a section of the Centenary Trail between Kambah Pool and Pine Island. Alternative routes are available and can be found on the Centenary Trail page of the ACT Parks website.
Final autumn roadside mowing and slashing is being undertaken along Paddys River, Tidbinbilla and Point Huts roads. Traffic management is in place via the mowing contractor but due care should be taken and extra time allowed for machinery operating along the roads.
The Cotter Campground will be closed for bathroom refurbishments from Tuesday 2 June to Wednesday 17 June 2026. There will be no access to the Cotter Campground during this period.
Old Boboyan Road will be closed from Saturday 30 May to Friday 12 June 2026 due to essential road maintenance works. Visitors will not be able to access Yankee Hat walking track via the Old Boboyan Road for the duration of the works. The road will reopen on Saturday 13 June 2026.

Roads and paths: Crews are undertaking vegetation control on sections of Bendora Road and Sunshine Road.
Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year.
Graffiti is removed within 15 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected and maintained as follows:
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) which are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) which are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) which are inspected every fortnight.
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned as follows:
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
