General updates
Bins: If you are regularly overfilling your general waste, recycling or garden waste bins, you can request an additional or upgraded (larger) bin. For more information see household bins.
Events: Transport Canberra is providing free travel to the 2025 Remembrance Day National Ceremony on Tuesday 11 November 2025. See free travel to Remembrance Day for more information.
Lakes and waterways:
Lake Ginninderra: Bargang Beach is closed due to a bacteria alert. Yerra Beach, Dulwa Beach and Nengi Bamir Beach have a medium alert level for Tychonema which is harmful to dogs when ingested.
Lake Tuggeranong: Tuggeranong Town Park is closed for swimming due to a bacteria alert.

Monaro Highway southbound between Hindmarsh Drive and Lanyon Drive will be closed from 7 pm Friday 14 November to 5 am Monday 17 November 2025, weather permitting, with temporary lights installed and lane changes northbound at Lanyon Drive. See Built for CBR for more information.
Temporary road closures are in place on Tuesday 11 November 2025 (Remembrance Day) near the Australian War Memorial. See National Capital Authority for more information.

Bargang Beach is closed for swimming due to high levels of bacteria.
Yerra Beach, Dulwa Beach and Nengi Bamir Beach at Lake Ginninderra are open for swimming with a warning for pet owners due to the Tychonema levels.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Belconnen region including:
Dunlop playground toilet: The building application has been submitted and final service approvals are underway. Works are scheduled to commence in early 2026.
Kuringa Drive pavement rehabilitation: Most of the work has now been completed except for the line marking. This will be carried out mid-November 2025 with works expected to be fully complete by early December 2025.
Palmerville Heritage Park loop path: The new path is open to the community. It is approximately 600 m in length and constructed from a mix of gravel path and raised boardwalks. The new path connects with the existing path network creating a 1.2 km loop.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Gungahlin region including:
Gungahlin memorial hall and condolence lounge: Construction activities continue with the completion of the internal walls and ceilings and the progression of audio video, communications and security cabling.
Nadjung Mada Nature Reserve: Construction works are continuing until the end of the year on upgrading Old Well Station Road at Nadjung Mada Nature Reserve. The works are designed to upgrade the existing fire trail for active travel, access, exercise and leisure activities while also including restoration work and animal crossings between the 2 offset areas of west Kenny and Nadjung Mada.
Ready-Cut Cottage accommodation is closed until further notice for maintenance and repairs.
Red Rocks cliff in Bullen Range Nature Reserve is closed for rock climbing until Wednesday 31 December 2025 for the Peregrine Falcon breeding season.
Sections of Gibraltar Peak Track in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve are undergoing maintenance works until Friday 14 November 2025. The walk remains open but there are detours in place for parts of the track. Please follow all on-site signage.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Tuggeranong region including:
Monaro Highway upgrade: Pavement construction works continue throughout the area. Monaro Highway southbound between Hindmarsh Drive and Lanyon Drive will be closed from 7 pm Friday 14 November to 5 am Monday 17 November 2025, weather permitting, with temporary lights installed and lane changes northbound at Lanyon Drive. Sulwood Drive pavement rehabilitation: Works have commenced on the west section, from the Tuggeranong Parkway up to the first intersection with Colquhoun Street. This is anticipated to take approximately 2 weeks. Work continues on the east section to open all existing drainage on the northern side of the road to improve the stormwater flows.
ACT parks and reserves: Ecologists are undertaking annual condition monitoring of Natural Temperate Grasslands and Yellow Box Grassy Woodland threatened ecological communities at Callum Brae Nature Reserve and Googong Foreshores.
Mowing: Mowing is underway in Eddison Park, Farrer, Holder, Mawson, Torrens, Weston and along Hindmarsh Drive.
Roads and paths: Crews are undertaking:
litter picking along Athllon Drive and Melrose Drive
street sweeping at Cooleman Court, Curtin shops, Mawson shops and Woden town centre.
Sportsgrounds: Crews are:
grass and turf treatment at Garran Neighbourhood Oval
aerating turf at the Mawson District Playing Fields
cleaning and brooming the synthetic surface at Melrose Synthetic Field
mowing and edging the Woden Park athletic track.
Trees: Crews are undertaking:
planting in Chapman, Coombs, Duffy, Fisher and Rivett
pruning and removals in Hughes, Garran and O'Malley
watering in Chifley, Coombs, Denman Prospect, Holder, Lyons, Pearce, Phillip, Torrens, Weston, Whitlam and Wright.
Weeds: Crews are managing weeds in shrub beds and open space in Chapman, Coombs, Duffy and Waramanga.
Corinna Street, Phillip: There will be temporary car parking closures over the coming week while work is underway to rectify some line marking along the parking spaces.
Edgeworth Parade, Coombs: Flags are being installed to protect the newly sprayed grass. All other works are complete.
Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year. We manage 125 barbecues across Canberra.
Graffiti is removed within 5 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. There are over 160 urban lakes and ponds around Canberra. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected. We manage over 500 playgrounds across Canberra including:
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) which are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) which are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) which are inspected every fortnight.
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned. We manage 90 shopping centres across Canberra and clean them as follows:
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required. We manage over 70 toilets across Canberra.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
