General updates
Pests: European wasp queen trapping program to commence on Monday 13 October 2025.
Lakes and waterways: ACT Health have commenced water quality testing at designated swim beaches.
Dulwa and Nengi Bamir beaches at Lake Ginninderra are open for swimming with a warning for pet owners due to the medium alert level for Tychonema. For a full list of swimming areas and their status see water quality.
Mowing: Mowing is underway in Aranda, Bruce, Charnwood and Flynn.

There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Belconnen region including:
Kuringa Drive pavement rehabilitation: Works are underway to open drains (northern end) adjacent to properties to allow the stormwater to flow. These works are required before the pavement rehabilitation works commence.
Palmerville Heritage Park loop path: Construction works are nearing completion on the new raised boardwalk and gravel path. The area remains closed to the public and is expected to be opened early November 2025.

Rabbit control: Rabbit control work is underway at Jerrabomberra Avenue in Symonston until Friday 17 October 2025 and Mount Ainslie Nature Reserve and Mount Majura Nature Reserve until Friday 5 December 2025. Signage is in place to advise reserve users of activity and restrictions.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Central Canberra region including:
Hopetoun Circuit road and pedestrian safety improvements: Most of the works are complete for road safety and pedestrian improvements at the intersection of Hopetoun Circuit and Adelaide Avenue. Minor landscaping will continue. All alternative traffic arrangements have been removed and the intersections are fully open.
Mowing: Mowing is underway in Amaroo and Gungahlin.
Prescribed burns: The 2025 prescribed burning program is underway with planned burns in Gungahlin Eucalyptus Plantation, Hall and Gubur Dhaura Heritage Park, subject to suitable weather conditions. The community may see an increase in smoke and emergency service vehicles in these areas but is asked not to call emergency triple-zero (000) unless they see an unattended fire.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Gungahlin region including:
Gungahlin memorial hall and condolence lounge: Construction activities continue with framing, wet areas, floor preparation for floor finishes and the commencement of communications cabling.
Nadjung Mada Nature Reserve: Construction works are continuing until the end of the year on upgrading Old Well Station Road at Nadjung Mada Nature Reserve.
The annual 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baiting program is underway until Thursday 16 October 2025. It targets wild dogs, foxes and feral pigs in various areas of Namadgi National Park, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and the Murrumbidgee River Corridor. All areas will be clearly indicated with warning signs.
Ready-Cut Cottage accommodation is closed until further notice for maintenance and repairs.
Red Rocks cliff in Bullen Range Nature Reserve is closed for rock climbing until Wednesday 31 December 2025 for the Peregrine Falcon breeding season.
Mowing: Mowing is underway in Bonython, Isabella Plains, Monash and Oxley.
Prescribed burns: The 2025 prescribed burning program is underway with planned burns in McQuoids Hill Nature Reserve and Pine Island, subject to suitable conditions. Kambah Oval on Laidlaw Place top dressing, fertilising and re-seeding. These works are due to be completed in February 2026 to allow new grass to establish after renovation work.
Wanniassa District Playing Fields on Sternberg Crescent top dressing. This work is due to be completed by mid-November 2025.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Tuggeranong region including:
Monaro Highway upgrades: Pavement construction works continue throughout the area. Temporary traffic lights are in place northbound at the intersection of Monaro Highway and Lanyon Drive. Both northbound and southbound carriageways on the Monaro Highway may be reduced to one lane during off-peak hours on weekdays.
Lanyon Drive will close between the northbound and southbound lanes of Monaro Highway from 7 pm Friday 17 to 5 am Monday 20 October 2025. View the alternate routes map (JPG 304.2 KB).
Mowing: Mowing is underway in Denman Prospect, Farrer, Torrens, Wright and along Hindmarsh Drive.
Prescribed burns: The 2025 prescribed burning program is underway with planned burns in Denman Prospect, Stromlo and Mount Taylor Nature Reserve, subject to suitable weather conditions. The community may see an increase in smoke and emergency service vehicles in these areas but is asked not to call emergency triple-zero (000) unless they see an unattended fire.

Darwinia Terrace bridge repairs: Works have commenced on-site to repair the pedestrian underpass following a fire in December 2024. Works are expected to take 8 weeks, weather and site conditions permitting.
Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year. We manage 125 barbecues across Canberra.
Graffiti is removed within 5 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. There are over 160 urban lakes and ponds around Canberra. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected. We manage over 500 playgrounds across Canberra including:
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) which are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) which are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) which are inspected every fortnight.
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned. We manage 90 shopping centres across Canberra and clean them as follows:
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required. We manage over 70 toilets across Canberra.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
