The weather forecast this week is partly cloudy and windy.Our planned works are outlined below. They are subject to weather and any required operational changes.
Rural roads: Road grading is underway on Brindabella Road, Mountain Creek Road and Two Sticks Road this week.
Sportsgrounds: Most ACT Government irrigated sportsgrounds are closed for maintenance. They will reopen on Wednesday 1 October 2025. For more information see sportsgrounds closed for maintenance.
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Belconnen region including:
Evatt shops: The new toilet will be opened to the public after the final building inspection which is expected to occur by 3 October 2025.
Kuringa Drive pavement rehabilitation: Works continue on Kuringa Drive with cleaning of existing drains and outlets to allow for the stormwater to run off site.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Central Canberra region including:
Monaro highway pavement rehabilitation: Final minor works to trim verges and remove excess material will be completed by early October. All other works have been completed.
Alexandrina Drive – road safety and pedestrian improvements: Improvements to the City to Woden C4 cycle route via the Lake Burley Griffin cycling circuit on Alexandrina Drive in Yarralumla are complete. This includes 2 new raised pedestrian crossings and lighting.
Adelaide Avenue – road safety and pedestrian improvements: Construction is continuing on the intersection of Adelaide Avenue and Hopetoun Circuit, northern off ramp to Yarralumla and southern on ramp to Deakin. Changed traffic arrangements, including single lane closures of the on and off-ramps will be in place until works are complete.
Mowing: Mowing is underway in Crace, Palmerston and Taylor.
Prescribed burns: The 2025 prescribed burning program is underway with planned burns in Gungahlin Eucalyptus Plantation, Hall and Gubur Dhaura Heritage Park, subject to suitable weather conditions. The community may see an increase in smoke and emergency service vehicles in these areas but is asked not to call emergency triple-zero (000) unless they see an unattended fire.
Roads and paths: Crews are undertaking litter picking on Gundaroo Drive, Kate Crace Street and Nudurr Drive.
The annual 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baiting program is underway until Thursday 16 October 2025. It targets wild dogs, foxes and feral pigs in various areas of Namadgi National Park, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and the Murrumbidgee River Corridor. All areas will be clearly indicated with warning signs.
Ready-Cut Cottage accommodation is closed until further notice for maintenance and repairs.
Red Rocks cliff in Bullen Range Nature Reserve is closed for rock climbing until Wednesday 31 December 2025 for the Peregrine Falcon breeding season.
Mowing: Mowing is underway in Fadden, Gilmore, Gowrie, Kambah (west), Macarthur and along Drakeford Drive.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Tuggeranong region including:
Monaro Highway upgrades: Pavement construction works continue throughout the area. Temporary traffic lights are in place northbound at the intersection of Monaro Highway and Lanyon Drive. Both northbound and southbound carriageways on the Monaro Highway may be reduced to one lane during off-peak hours on weekdays.

Playgrounds: Crews will be replacing the shade sail at Porter Street Neighbourhood Park in Wright.

Molonglo River Bridge: Pre-cast deck panels are being placed using an 800-tonne crane and installation continues towards the northern end of the bridge. Coppins Crossing Road will be closed from 9:30 am Friday 26 to 3:00 pm Monday 29 September to allow work to proceed safely.
Ruth Park, Coombs new toilets: The toilet is complete and open to the public. Landscape and screening works are currently underway.
Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year. We manage 125 barbecues across Canberra.
Graffiti is removed within 5 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. There are over 160 urban lakes and ponds around Canberra. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected. We manage over 500 playgrounds across Canberra including:
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) which are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) which are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) which are inspected every fortnight.
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned. We manage 90 shopping centres across Canberra and clean them as follows:
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required. We manage over 70 toilets across Canberra.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
