For after hours urgent public health matters including environmental health, radiation safety, food poisoning and communicable disease management phone:
ACT residents who live in a property where no one is physically able to take their bin(s) to the kerbside for collection due to chronic illness, frail age or disability can apply for bin assistance.
On the scheduled collection day the collection contractor will retrieve the bin from the designated area, empty it, and return the bin to the designated area. This is a free service for eligible people.
Wheeled bin assistance can be requested for a specific period or indefinitely. ACT NoWaste will review all assistance requests as required.
To ensure the best possible service, please ensure:
the bins are easily accessible and are not located behind gates, inside a garage etc.
there are no obvious safety hazards
the bins are not overloaded
pets are restrained.
Who is eligible?
ACT residents who live in a property where no one is physically able to take their bin(s) to the kerbside for collection due to chronic illness, frail age or disability can apply for assistance. If an able-bodied person lives at the premises you will not be eligible for this service.
ACT NoWaste may require medical or other information to support your application and reserves the right to withdraw or refuse assistance.
How to apply
If you have difficulties wheeling your bin out to the kerb, you may be able to access a free assistance service. Complete the wheeled bin assistance form if you require assistance with placing your landfill, recycling and/or garden organics (lime green-lidded bin) on the kerb on your scheduled bin collection day.
