Parkes Way upgrade

Current update

The ACT Government matched the $2.5 million provided by the Australian Government to investigate future improvements to the Parkes Way corridor between Glenloch Interchange, including the Bindubi Street intersection, and Kings Avenue.

A corridor strategy technical report, highlighting priority options for future infrastructure improvements along Parkes Way, was completed in early 2026. The report  recognises the importance of the corridor for all travel modes and includes possible options for improvements to accessibility, capacity, connectivity and safety for all road users. The report is being used as a reference document to inform future infrastructure investment along the corridor.

Parkes Way is Canberra’s central east-west corridor for passenger travel as well as freight movement.
